Hi, I’m Sophia.
I’m a data scientist and researcher passionate about leveraging machine learning to drive innovation in healthcare, predictive analytics, and crisis response.
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Informatics (Human-Centered Data Science) and Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. I recently completed my Master of Science in Data Analytics for Science from Carnegie Mellon University, where I focused on machine learning, computational genomics, and advanced NLP techniques.
My work spans natural language processing, predictive modeling, and image classification, with applications in medical diagnostics, misinformation detection, and social-media analytics. Most recently, I published a data science-driven research paper in PLOS ONE, where I applied transformer-based models to analyze social media trends and misinformation during hurricanes at scale.
